Celebrate family food
Equipping families to cook easy, healthy meals on a low budget. Free recipe-box courses, designed by our own families, for households across Maidstone.
The Dinnertime Dread
Ever felt that decision fatigue about what to cook for dinner every single night? Now add in figuring out what to make with hardly anything in the cupboards, or at the end of the month when money is tight.
Takeaways are appealing, but not friendly to the bank balance or the body. Our family-friendly recipe boxes were designed by our own families to solve all of those problems at once: a series of recipe kits to cook over 30 different meals, each one replicable for less than £3 per person.
How it works
1
Referred by a partner
Schools, charities, housing
associations and social workers
refer households that would
benefit from a recipe course.
2
We box it up
Our staff and volunteers sign up to 20 households at a time, then prepare and portion every ingredient by household size.
3
Families cook at home
Boxes are collected from our community spaces twice a week, ready to cook easy, affordable meals from scratch.
No means-testing
We believe every household should be able to cook with confidence on a budget, so we never means-test our support. If a recipe course would help your family, it’s for you.
Pay it forward
Everyone can access the course free of charge. If you’re able to, you’re welcome to donate towards your boxes, or pay it forward to help cover the cost for another family.
Designed by families
These aren’t recipes handed down from on high. They were built by our own families, for real kitchens, real budgets and real weeknights.
